How did the work of established and recognised theatre practitioners, and/or the work of live theatre, influence the way in which your devised response developed?

At the moment we are studying lysistrita for of unit 4 which contains different arcutypes that are extremely exaggerated and are very farcical. As we are devising a piece that is also a farce we are using characters from Lysistrita such as the Magistrates is stimulus for our over the top characters

We have recently gone to seen One man two Governs, a farce with over the top exaggerated characters. This has help us to develop our characters in making them extremely over the top, stereotyped, characters.

One of the Characters we really enjoyed was the posh character. We then noticed that none of our characters were attached to a set social class thus giving us the idea of a scene with a chav and posh character as we felt that using two opposite characters would inject humour into the scene.

When leading lysistrita workshops I would often use Bretchin techniques to rehearse. I found it was the best way to draw out and exaggerate the characters. There for whilst directing this piece exercises such as gestures. We found that talking aside to the audience and excessive reputation hlped add to the comedy.

  1. Again, answer the following question to create notes:
How has Brecht influenced the piece?
When have you directed before and how has thisw helped you to direct now?
You need to give specific examples of what you learnt from the live play- types of characters, asides to audience....
what have you researched about comedy?
how have you used Max Stafford Clarks Transitive verbs?
How has work from year 12 helped?
