How is the initial material being researched and developed at significant stages during the process of creating drama?

We have decided to go down the route of secrets as it related to our stimulus the best. Therefor we researched different secrets that we could use in ours scenes. The secrets we researched included infidelity hidden identity sexuality, infection, and addiction. We will explore these through improve and pick out what scenarios and charters work best.

After improvising different scenarios with the secrets we researched we have chosen to continue developing the hidden identity scene along with the infidelity, and infection scene.

Today we did character devising as we felt that it would be the over the top characters that made ordinary situations funny. Characters we came up with included, a bimbo, an old man, a posh man, a pervert, a camp guy, a hippy, and a gangster.

Today we created a new scene in which we use polar opposite characters. In the scene an upper class man finds himself trapped in a rough area and is faced by a mugger. We choose these characters after doing some character devising. As well as seeing 'One man two Governs' the actors also did some people watching in Tooting for authenticity.

At the moment our posh and chav scene is on hiatus. However today we did develop a new scene involving a teenage girl that doesn’t know she's pregnant. For this character we researched pregnancy symptoms in adolescents on the NHS website and Cow and Gate website.

Today we hot seated one of our teenagers (Tracy) we decided she would be posh but tries to relate to the other character (Stacy). To get an idea of a stereotype of a young posh girl we refereed to Made in Chelsea as they are similar to archytype we are trying to create with Tracy. We used the Stanislavsky method of taking the actors out of the given circumstances and put them in an interview scenario. Raye, Pia, and Elizabeth , who aren’t in the scene all improvised the interview in a different way to give Hazel , whom is playing Tray an idea of different types of ways she can portray Tracy as posh.

This week we worked on the office scene. We’ve decided to draw the comedy from innuendoes mostly with an injection of slapstick comedy. Our script is practically finished now I just need to block the scene with props
During our rehearsal on Wednesday we worked on the PE scene. in this scene we descried to draw the comedy from the characters physicality. we found if our characters carried more items on their person we could draw out comedy by having them do outrageous movements and dropping all there item. For example one of the characters will have lots of issue packs down her sleeve, so she'll do jumping jacks and have them fly out going everywhere. We tried this with lot of different items such as pens and Ping-Pong balls until we choose tissues. We settled with tissues as we needed something soft as it might hit a audience member. As Raye was out we had Pia read in so we could block in the teachers actions as the teachers movement were vital to the scene especially when scripting.

During our rehearsal we tried to read through the script with Raye to show her what we did last week. We found we need to add in move conversation between the teacher and the students. However before we could do that we found we would need to find out what sort of relationship there was between the teacher and the students. And with the exam date approaching we also acknowledged that we need to create ideas for our 4th scene.  After improving some scenes we found our favourite idea to be the family scene which would focuses on 2 children revealing the families secrets during dinner. We plan to develop this scene in our next rehearsals.

Today we changed the direction the 3rd scene was going in. Instead of bringing in things they stole they are going to steal the items during the scene and try to hide them on their person. We found by doing this we could get more physical comedy out of it and innuendos.

As our stimualuse was our New York trip ,manily our vistie to the 9/11 memorial, we based our development workshops on it accordinly. We ound our most effective workshop was Taylor's as it dealt with the theme of secrets/ the unexpected; as thats what 9/11 was. We all made a list
of secrets and brought in item to use in an improvisation. Which is how the origonal idea for the robbery came up. however whist working on the idea of the robery we found they we didnt like the route the plot was goin nor wee we happ with the character. so we did some more improve; whilst doning improve we found that we enjoyed having sharp shorts scenes one after the other and even thought the scene werent related we still liked it. After chossing our favouit improvisations we repeted them and scripted our favorit lines.

  1. The stimulus material was your trip to new yorl so the workshops in new york and the visit to 9/11 are included in this. you need to describe what you learnt about in new york.
you then need to explain any useful workshops the class did after new york to explore the trip.
You then need to explain the spontaneous improvisations that were created to generate ideas for the piece.
how did the original idea for the robbery come about?
    why did this idea change?
How, as a director, have you developed the piece?
You need to excplain, as a director, how you have developed each of the scenes.
